HAWSTEAD PARISH COUNCIL

CO-OPTION NOTICE

 

Hawstead Parish Council has capacity for seven councillors, but at present only six members, which means that there is one vacancy.

The Council would like to co-opt an individual into the vacant role so that the Council can continue to operate effectively.

If you live or work in the parish of Hawstead Parish and want to support the Council in its work for local residents and have some free time and energy, please contact either the Chairman, Henry Brewis, or the clerk, Catherine Hibbert, before 30th April 2026 for further information about the role.

Any candidate will need to demonstrate compliance with various legal qualifying criteria in order for their application to be considered. If there are a number of candidates then the Council may consider interviewing candidates.

HAWSTEAD PARISH COUNCIL

TREE WARDEN VACANCY

 

Hawstead Parish Council is custodian for various parcels of land designated as village green, many of which are home to a wide range of trees. The trees contribute to the attractiveness of the village and are themselves havens for the wildlife we all enjoy in Hawstead.

The Council is responsible for monitoring the condition of its trees to make sure they remain in a healthy condition and pose no danger to our residents and visitors.

The Council is looking for an enthusiastic volunteer, preferably with a knowledge of trees, who would be able to help the Council to manage its responsibilities in this regard. That individual would help;-

  • Monitor the condition of the trees owned by the Council;
  • Identify those trees which need work from time to time and draw up (in conjunction with the clerk) any specification of works;
  • Liaise with contractors who are quoting for/ implementing any necessary tree works.

After a long period of service, our outgoing tree warden is due a well-earned break, but has kindly agreed to remain on hand to help handover to the incoming tree warden.
