PUBLIC INFORMATION ABOUT SPRAYING NEAR WATERCOURSES

Please be aware that;-

1.No domestic weed killer is now approved for use within 1 m of a watercourse

2. Anyone wishing to spray weeds within 1 m of a watercourse must have an appropriate qualification, and must apply to the EA for a licence in advance, including full details and a site plan.

NOTICE OF VACANCY

Notice is hereby given that there is a casual vacancy on Hawstead Parish Council.  The vacancy has been advertised prior to August 2024 and no election was requested.  The Council is now able to fill the vacancy by co-option.

APPLICATION SHOULD BE MADE IN WRITING TO THE CLERK TO THE COUNCIL AND DELIVERED OR POSTED TO Brokesbourne, Stanningfield Road, Great Whelnetham, Suffolk, IP30 0TY or sent by email| clerk@hawstead-pc.gov.uk. APPLICATIONS TO BE RECEIVED BY 20 November 2024.

Applicants are asked to give brief reasons for offering their services to the Council.

Any elector interested in applying is welcome to contact the Clerk for further details.  The successful applicant will be chosen following consideration by the Parish Council.

Applicants should note that Councillors are expected to attend regular bi-monthly meetings on the second Thursday of each second month and any additional meetings as may be arranged and to represent the electors of Hawstead in raising and discussing those issues of interest and concern on which the Parish Council is empowered to act.  Applicants should also note that membership of the Council is open to electors;-

  • Whose residence is in Hawstead or within three miles of Hawstead, or
  • Whose principal place of work is in Hawstead, and
  • Who is not disqualified (by reason of a criminal record, bankruptcy or involvement in corrupt practices)

NOTICE OF VACANCY IN OFFICE OF COUNCILLOR

Parish of Hawstead

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN

 

that due to the resignation of Councillor Penny Barham, a vacancy has arisen in the Office of Councillor for the Parish Council.

If by 15 August 2024 (14 days excluding Dies Non, after the date of this notice) a request for an election to fill said vacancy is made in writing to the Returning Officer at the address below by TEN electors for the said Parish, an election will be held to fill the said vacancy, otherwise the vacancy will be filled by co-option.

 

If an election is called, it will take place not later than 18 October 2024.
